October 27 @ 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm CDT
Join meditation teacher John Cianciosi for a two-hour introduction to the meditative
path—a gentle, practical approach to cultivating awareness, inner calm, and greater
serenity in everyday life. Drawing from decades of experience in meditation and
Buddhist practice, John will guide participants through simple teachings and practices
designed to help us become more present, attentive, and at ease.
This welcoming workshop is suitable for both beginners and experienced meditators.
Through guided meditation, reflection, and discussion, we will explore how awareness
can transform the way we relate to our thoughts, emotions, and daily experiences.
Rather than striving for a particular state of mind, we will learn to meet each moment
with openness, kindness, and curiosity.
Discover how meditation can become a natural and meaningful part of your life—and a
gentle path toward greater clarity, balance, and serenity.

John Cianciosi was ordained a Buddhist monk in Thailand in 1972 and trained under the late Venerable Ajahn Chah. Later, he was appointed abbot of Wat Pah Nanachat, the International Forest Monastery established to provide training for the growing number of Ajahn Chah’s Western disciples. In 1982, he was asked to establish a Buddhist monastery in Perth, Western Australia. For the next 14 years, he was instrumental in successfully establishing Bodhinyana Monastery and Dhammaloka Buddhist Centre. In 1995 he left monastic life and moved to the Chicago area, where he continues to share his insights and wisdom. He is the author of The Meditative Path and is currently the director of public programs at the Theosophical Society in America.

24 Hour Cancellation Policy. At MSI Wellness Center, we honor the time, preparation, and limited seating reserved for each participant. A 24-hour cancellation policy applies to all classes, training programs, private sessions, and events. If you cancel within 24 hours of your scheduled class, training, private session, or event, the full tuition or registration fee will be charged and is non-refundable. Because many of our offerings have limited seating and often sell out, your reserved space prevents us from accommodating those on our waiting list. For cancellations made outside of the 24-hour cancellation window that qualify for a refund, a $10 processing fee will be deducted from the refunded amount to cover administrative and payment processing costs. We sincerely appreciate your understanding and respect for our time, preparation, and the many individuals we serve. Thank you for helping us create a thoughtful and well-prepared experience for our entire community.
